Default 2003 Outlander AWD Hanger Bearings

Hi all,
My mechanic says the "hanger bearings" on my outlander need to be replaced. He doesnt usually work on mitsubishis so he is unsure if he needs to replace the whole driveshaft or just the bearings or anything else? No dealerships are calling him back so I was wondering if anyone here knows what has to be done?
Also what is the typical gas mileage you all get? I get between 350-400KM from a tank (60L?) Is that bad? Seems really bad to me!
Thanks for your help!
