2005 Outlander rear differential clunking noise when going into drive

The clunking noise has been happening for about a month now. Cannot find anything loose. It appears to be in the rear diff. Any clues?:(

check the u-joints. Front and rear. also the driveshaft support bearing and mount.

I guess I'll start there, thanks.

not sure about the first gen, but the 2nd gen uses half shafts (cv shafts) instead of a traditional rear axle. if your gen uses half shafts, check those as well.

Hi,

did you have any luck in solving this. I may be experiencing a similar problem. I also found this other page on this forum:

Please let me know if you have found a solution.
Thank you, Massimo.
