Default 2005 Outlander rear differential clunking noise when going into drive

The clunking noise has been happening for about a month now. Cannot find anything loose. It appears to be in the rear diff. Any clues?

not sure about the first gen, but the 2nd gen uses half shafts (cv shafts) instead of a traditional rear axle. if your gen uses half shafts, check those as well.

Hi,

did you have any luck in solving this. I may be experiencing a similar problem. I also found this other page on this forum:

Please let me know if you have found a solution.
Thank you, Massimo.
