Default 2007 Outlander - Remove Second row seat

Hey guys so I am going to be doing a lot of traveling this year in my 2007 Outlander, I plan on sleeping in the back of my outlander, I have used the "Bed" seat formation before but being someone who is 6 feet tall it is not long enough for me to comfortably sleep.

I have tried to fold up the seats and again, same problem, I am too tall to lay down comfortably.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to remove the second row seats so I can comfortably lay down in the back of my car.

I pulled one a few years back. Couple of bolts. Removal is easier than putting back in.

Does anybody have an updated diagram and removal instructions for the 2nd row rear seats? I have a 2013 Outlander XLS with spring-loaded, folding rear seats. They fold up rather than down and I need to remove them for the additional storage capacity.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 2013 too and am looking at removing the back seats to make a mattress platform.

No, no one seems to know how to get the seats back in. Any info you find would be super helpful. All the diagrams I can find are for the simpler fold down seats. The spring loaded, fold up seats in the xls model are definitely more complicated!

You have to remove the lower side trims on both door openings to disconnect wiring (if applicable), and then remove the trims over the hinges at the front of the seat, then the covers over the rear mountings under the seat. So in total about 8 trims, and 8 bolts (14mm head size) . The seats can be quite heavy on some models, so get some help in removing them

I would think that removing all the trims 1st and then folding them down before attempting the bolts would be easier, but you never know till you start fighting with them. Good luck

I'm 6'4 so the "lie back mode" is cool but impractical if you're doing it more than a night. That diagram above is spot on for the 2nd row. Plastics are all just snapped into place if I'm remembering correctly, maybe one with those stupid pop fasteners. I removed the 60 spilt when I was traveling and car camping for a few months, kept the 40 because it was the perfect size for my cooler and I could use the seatbelt to keep it from sliding around. You're tall as well, so you shouldn't have a hard time getting the leverage you need to move them. I never found the plastics to be useful so they never went back on. I guess maybe the front ones would prevent people from scraping their heels or something? Without the plastics to finagle it takes me 10 minutes solo to remove both seats.
You're left with a weird series of different floor heights that can make it difficult to get a comfortable sleeping area, but it's 100% workable. My system was to slide the front seat forward, reposition a few things into the footwell, and then roll out 2 comfortors (folded lengthwise so each is doubled under you) and a foam sleeping pad. Pillow and sleeping bag on top and you're golden!
