2007 Outlander XLS - Remote Car Starter

...Has anyone installed a remote starter on the XLS (bypassing FastKey)? If yes, what brand/model? [/align]

RE: 2007 Outlander XLS - Remote Car Starter

I have been told its impossible.
Because the Fast Keyless system looks for a code built into the chip for the keyfob.

There is no way to replicate that system, so there is no way to remote start

From what I hear, Lexus and Mercedes owners have the same problem.

Why Mits choose to not have a remote start option on this car is beyond me.

I also asked if it were possible to remove the FASTkeyless system, and was told by MMA, that its intergrated into the ECU, so no luck there

If anyone comes up with a way,

Im all ears

Somebody from the Craspace forum said he got one installed, and it's somehow rigged to work with the existing FASTKey remote. When the car is started, the doors remained locked. But he goes to say he didn't know what model/brand of remote start the dealership installed. So I take it with a grain salt.

I think the Japan version didn't have it either, so that would explain why. Mitsu manufactures this CUV in different configurations for the worlwide market. And I bet remote start is fancy feature to have in markets outside of the US, thus they skipped it (just my 2 cents). But yes, I would have liked it offered as an option that I can buy later. Although I know it wouldn't be long before 3rd party manufacturer's offers one for the Outlander, but I'd rather buy an original Mitsu OEM part if one is available later. And hopefully there'd be one where it's integrated in the FASTKey, so I don't carry an extra remote.

Ok...looks like it can be done after my friend did some looking around. I hope to have this done by Friday. The problem is having the FastKey work with the remote start at the same time and not loose one. Also found out you CAN watch a DVD while driving with a simple mod.

Please update again with your findings (when it's done). Thanks.

BTW - what model PYTHON are you planning to install on the XLS?
