2008 outlander doors unlocking but not locking

2008 outlander doors unlocking but not locking
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
a friends outlander is having this weird issue and i hope someone can help..
2008 outlander with comfort access, everything that has to do with unlocking the doors and tailgate works perfectly, both buttons on both driver and passenger doors, both keyfobs, both outer doorhandles soft touch. However the LOCK doesnt work at neither of the before mentioned.
there is no keys left in igniton, doors and tailgate are all fully shut, ignition switch is fully turned off.
PS, small buttons on outer door handles make the soft beep sound as if the doors were closing and also alarms activates as if indeed the car is locked but locks do not lock.
any help will be greatly appreciated!
