2008 UK Outlander ETV fuse blowing (code P0487)

2008 UK Outlander ETV fuse blowing (code P0487)

Hi everyone,
I need a little help trouble shooting the above fault.
On every other start I get the engine orange warning light illuminating. The code is P0487 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Control Circuit A/Open. I can clear the fault light with my OBDII scanner but after the second engine start the fault light returns.

I have found that the 15amp fuse in the engine fuse box (fuse position 8 ETV) also blows on every second start.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this issue.

Thanks

I have the same code plus a few extra ones. I've checked my fuse and it's fine.

If you managed to sort it please let me know.

Thank you

Hello all, I had the same problem, except I had a P00488 code as well as the P00487. I have replaced both the EGR valve and the throttle body(AKA Exhaust Throttle Valve). I also cleaned all the wiring plugs.
I then replaced the ETV fuse. This cured the EML coming so far. I've driven it for a week, lots of starts. I still have the P00487 code coming up and the vehicle will not rev cleanly past 2500rpm under load. I'm thinking electric so I have it booked in at Mitsubishi for a diagnostic run. My vehicle is an Outlander Warrior DI-D 2007. I hope this helps. Replacing the two parts mentioned above isn't too difficult. Just remove the engine cover brackets this helps with space. A short T30 key also helps. While I had the parts out I changed the oil filter and oil as I'd run two doses of EGR cleaner through it.

Mines is exactly the same vehicle!! My codes are (brace yourself) P0487, P0488, P2141, P0234, P0606, P0573, P0671-P0674 (all glow plugs but light turns off when it should and car starts first time), P0504. I've had a new egr valve put on. I run Achoil AR6900-D Max with every fill up. I think it's something electrical that's messing up everything.
Let me know how you get on please.

Good luck
