I have both racks, 2 on roof (inno) and 1 hitch mounted for 4 bicycles.
i can put 2 bikes on the roof with a cargo box or put 4 racks with the cargo box removed. The pictur is during a trip to niagara falls, 2 bikes on the roof, 1 cargo box and 2 bikes on the hitch.
If you have only 2 bikes to carry, you're better with the roof mounted.

I don't think I have ever seen so much stuff attached to an Outlander!

Haha, it's not usual, i use the hitch support once or twice a year...
i don't like it, it swings and not as safe or solid as the roof supports. if i don't need the cargo box, i have 2 other roof support.

This was only for one trip, 4 bikes, 2 kids, lots of luggage, etc... takes a lot of space

Less the hitch (350 $) the hitch rack is 125$ and the roof racks are 175$ each.
