Default 2011 Kia Sorento for Outlander?

I am considering to trade in my 07 for Kia. It looks great, has the power and excellent feature set (except HIDs) It's getting excellent reviews and so far looks like beating Rav4. It's not that hard to beat it in my view, but in others view Rav4 been always #1.

So anyway, anyone else considered? Any reason I shouldn't?

The new Sorento looks good but that is about it. I have a friend who bought a previous model Sorento and when he tried to sell it he was WAY upside down. To add to that he already had to put a whole bunch of money into it. So, IMO I wouldn't even think about it.

Best advice is take the Sorento for a test drive, then make your decision.

This is an OUTLANDER Forum, so no, I think you should keep your OUTLANDER. If you want to trade in, go for the 2010 OUTLANDER.

KIA's are crap.....

Keep your Outie. Kia's products are totally crap. Comparing two Korean brands you better think of Hyundai instead of Kia.
But Japanese products are always better than Korean products. You should keep your Outie

Kia is fully owned by Hyundai. The Sorento is based on the Hyundai Santa Fe with newer engine options and newer features.
I would say the 2011 Sorento is better than the current gen Outlander based on materials, quality, and refinement. The Outlander has a nicer design for 2010 and has a better AWD system available, but the 2011 Sorento looks and feels way better inside than the Mitsubishi.
Perhaps in the US there is still a stigma about Kia/Hyundai, but in Canada they are way above Mitsubishi in terms of sales...they only offer a 5 year warranty on all their products because they have no trouble selling them.
Given a choice between the Outlander XLS and Kia Sorento Ultra Luxury V6 (same price), I would probably go with the Kia.

Going to test drive today, but I still wish Kia had HIDs standard.

Easy to do with the Sorrento, it has Projector Lamps. Buy a set of HID Bulbs and Ballasts, 90$ and its as simple as changing a light bulb.

Cant do it so easy with Outlander because of the Reflector Lenses, DRL issues etc.

It behooves me to type this in the Outtie forum but...sat in the Sorrento at the autoshow last night and the 3rd row seats of the Sorento has more room than the Outlander - an adult can actually sit in the 3rd row seats of the Sorento whereas this is not possible in the Outlander at all, never mind for a "short trip". I find the interior of the Sorento much nicer but prefer the exterior of the Outlander, both the 2007-2009 and 2010 gen. Notwithstanding all that, the S-AWC of the Outlander would be the clincher for me.
