Default 2011 Outlander Sport Bad Gas Mileage?

I have a new 2011 Outlander Sport the highest I have seen fromt he trip computer is 22MPG average on the highway. I can get 24-26 MPG on the same trip with my Evo X. Is any one else experiencing poor gas mileage with this car?

My highest is just over 28 mixed highway/city. I average around 25. It doesn't take much to drive down the mileage if you accelerate faster than a slow crawl. I think the sticker is very optimistic when it comes to mileage. I switched from a lancer that averaged 30-32 with the highest being 42. I didn't expect the sport to do as well but I expected better.

Yeah, once youu hit 2200rpms the gas mileage dives. I just expected this to have better gas mileage than my Evo, in the city it is even, but on the parkway it doesn't. I fail to see how the mileage they claim is even close to accurate. Did they test the car on a downhill road?

Do you have the AWD model? If yes, do you have it set for 2WD, 4WD or Lock? 2WD should help to get better mpg.

It's AWD, but I leave it in 2WD.

If its brand new give it a chance to break in. If its already had a oil change, make sure they used 0-20W oil. Most of the 2011 model mitsubishis are using the new weight oil for better fuel mileage.

I have just under 5,000km but the mileage hasn't improved. Ryandlor said it would improve after 12,000km but that seems like a lot for a break in period. Certainly more than I have experienced with any of my recent vehicles. I guess time will tell.

My 09 outlander was double that before the mpg increased.
