I'd be happy to even get the combined but I should be getting 6.6! My biggest issue is that I can drive it very conservitaly and not even come close to what was advertised, but even worse if I drive it sporty I'm up at 14L. My friends 5.4L Triton 4Door Long Box Ford gets 18!!! I honestly would not have bought this vehicle had I known. I mean if I had 180HP under the hood then I could understand but I don't. So somehow Mitsubishi has combined the dissapointment of poor fuel economy with the lack of power and put it in a package that lied to me from day one. I do not recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a fuel efficient car because it is not, cost me 66 bucks to fill up and I maybe get 450K? Come on what crap. Our 2005 Corolla took $40 and would go for 600K and on the sticker comparison the Corolla was only slightly better at 6.3L. We drove that car for 5 years all over and it always delivered. Unless we can gather together as a group and all sign something to submit to Mitsubishi then all we can do is complain about it on here. The dealer says "really, first I've heard of it". Oh so it's just me then, just my car? Then I come on here and see that they're many dissapointed people. Not only because of the additional cost but because we made a decision when we bought the car to buy A FUEL EFFICIENT vehicle so that we can minimize our impact on the environment. I can't get 6.6L unless I turn the car and push it!!!

I have been working away trying to get compensate some how, dealt with dealership directly and with head office just lame excuses, I believe I am getting somewhere with the better business bureau other then that I am in contact with someone involved with televised news and as well federal government. It's all taking time but I will accomplish something, if your interested on getting on board email me with your complaint and your contact info and it will strengthen our situation eapecially if all of our issues are similar and as well presented in one big package. Please contact me at paultheman69@hotmail.com and once again provide contact info so I can provide it and it doesn't look like I made up the complaint. Thanks in advance to everyone who hops on board. By the way I live in Ontario Canada.

You're not alone I have the same complaints, if I adjust my driving habits anymore than it is.... I might as well go backwards
If that petition sheet comes about let me I'll absolutely sign it
I had a late 70's corolla that I really beat on constant WOT that did way better than this outlander

Default Bad gas mileage

It is nice to hear that I am not the only one with these issues. I got 3 outlanders in 1 day and I am a big Mitsubishi Fan.... However this is definetly wrong.... I would not bought these cars with this poor ga mileage.
I don't believe in BBB. What we need is a class action lawsuit.
Let's get a hold of a lemon law company at can combine all of our complaints.
Your thoughts?

Since the last time I filled up I drove 310 miles and I still have about 1/4 of a tank left. And this is with about 50% jack rabbit starts (3000-4000 RPM). So if I drove until the light came on I might get about 350 miles.
My Toyota Rav4 would get about 250 miles on a full tank.

Edit:
By the way I just saw regular unleaded for $4.29 a gallon

I should ad that when I go to work I am constantly changing speeds as I get stuck behind a LOT of people who either ride their brakes constantly change speeds or slam on their brakes at stupid times. I also pass slowpokes at about 70 MPH at least twice a week.
There's also a lot of stop lights for about 25% of the way. And I'm still getting over 300 miles to 3/4 of a tank.

I just filled up the tank this morning. I was at 322 miles and the I still had about 1/8 of a tank

I have gotten over 32mpg (US) but that was driving really conservatively on a highway and not going above 57-58mph. I have found that once I get over 60mph, the mileage drops fast. I have gotten less than 20mpg on a road trip when doing the highway speed of 70. That is terrible mileage for highway driving. I don't remember ever getting that low on the highway for any vehicle unless I am towing something.

Default RVR Gas Mileage

Sorry to hear of all those that continue to have poor gas mileage. Since my last post I filled the tank and have done a variety of driving tasks. My daughter has been back and forth to University once, all city driving 80kms, I've taken my son for driving lessons, all city 70kms, been back and forth to work 5X at 2kmm per trip, various other city conditions, and maybe 150km highway. I just hit 400km on the tank and still have one 1/2 tank left. My targets are 7 litres per 100km highway, 8 litres mixed and 9 litres city. My city driving does not include a lot of sitting time; usually on the move. As previously stated I do not hold up traffic with slow driving, but i drove this tank trying to squeeze the last drop. When I check kilometres remaining until empty, the gauge suggests I have 320 kilometres left to travel. That would put me at approximately 700 kilometres driven on the full 60 litres of gas in the tank. That would put me at 8.5 litres per hundred kms mixed use, and would be generally within .5 of my target of 8.0 per 100kms. While doing my last trip on the highway (80 kms) the gauge eventually worked its way down to 7.5 litres per hundred and i felt that if i was to continue I could have most definately dropped that figure to somewhere in the high 6.8/6.9. Hope these stats will help anyone with comparison figures. My sincere apologies to those that are not achieving these same levels!!!

Default Good gas mileage

The people with poor mileage are you using ethanol type fuel? I drive 99% on the highway in hilly terrain (Rogers Pass) around 60mph and I am averaging 35mpg (imp) in the winter and 41 mpg (imp) summer time...I have achieved the rated 43 mpg (imp) a few times, driving to Vernon,BC. Keep in mind if u drive above 2000 rpm or over 60mph, your mileage decreases.

I think ethanol is a critical factor. My fuel is 10% ethanol. EPA doesn't use that crap for testing. That being said, my car is rated 24 combined and I've always gotten that or more. After my ecu update my mpgs are climbing a bit. Also keep in mind "highway" according to the gov is 45mph. Similar cars like the Kia Sportage Awd which is supposed to get 30 cause of its lesser Awd system only gets 25 highway in real world driving. I know a guy with a juke rated 30+ who gets 22 average. Driver and terrain and fuel make a difference. If I drive super Eco I am now able to push 30 in town on ethanol thinned fuel. I'm going to add a kn filter and give a few tanks to adjust and see what happens as well. I recommend every get the ecu update that corrected the timing. Of yeah I was looking at the gmc terrain rates 21-31. I tested one an found it beyond gutless and 17 was all I could get in town.
