UPDATE:

Drive around town a few days then made a trip to Fredericksburg (165 milesish) and drove around for the weekend and camped in the car in an RV park! Fueled up and got 26MPG. Note there were some times where I idled for extended periods and a couple of times hitting 100+ cause I can!

On the way back I used cruise which I find to be the least eco option on this car because its so precise in keeping and restoring speed (hence the ECO light turns off when you use it). I locked in at 65mph and I had 28.8 on the display when I got home. At the pump that will be 30MPG! NO KIDDING! Thats two people and a bunch of gear.

After 9k miles Im thinking the "break in" has taken effect!

 

I just picked up my 2011 LS V6, it has 24,000 KM on it. I tested the milage yesterday on the way home on the highway and doing about 110 KM/h, about 70 MPH, I was getting between 30 and 33 MPG. I didn't think that was achievable. Most of the drive was flat, but on the slightly hilly areas it was around 28MPG.

 

Another fill up on Tuesday:

344.1 miles, 12.86 gallons, which is equal to 26.8 miles per gallon. More city than usual driving on that tank.

These numbers were accomplished with a K&N drop in and a economical foot...

 

YES! this car is the worse purchase possible!

Anyways, I had poor economy till I had the reflash done. After 600 miles it's clear the car is learning and adjusting better. I drive easy and I get 27 up in the city. I drive in a hurry I get 24 which is its rated value.

Been pushing 30 highway at 65 as of late. That's AWD.

Others in its class suffer low mpgs too. Kia sportage is averaging about 24 overall. Not impressive.

I didn't read every post (there is a lot of posts in this thread), but did notice a few times it was mentioned the sticker ratings.
I found this a few weeks ago when I was interested in how they got those ratings, as they do not actually mean real world milage.
Below is from the US, but it's pretty much universal and probably used for us Canadians.

 

Also keep in mind the computer is consistently low by 1-1.5 mpg. Also we all seem to only have access to 90/10 gas. Ethanol is a terrible fuel but it props up corporate corn so it ain't going anywhere. That 10% ethanol is detrimental to mpgs

 

Ethanol knocks down mpg approximately 5%.

The interesting thing in the chart pasted by Northern Mike is the maximum acceleration given. I don't think the Outlander Sport can do 8.46 mph/sec on average given its 0-60 time is around 9 seconds. 60/9=6.66667. If it were to do 8.46mph/sec average, it would be doing 0-60 in 7.09 seconds.

Unless they checked only the last second or something.

 

What I find interesting with that chart is the average speed for the hwy calculation. The average speed they use is below any posted hwy speed I drive on my commute, so taking that plus real world wind resistance (plus grade, etc) and there is little chance of hitting that posted hwy mpg unless the vehicle in question gets better milage at a higher speed (My 08 SRT4 is a prime example with listed 26MPG hwy vs. 31 real world hwy).

 

Filled up the other day again:

398.2 Miles @ 14.0 gallons of 87 octane for a final mixed economy of 28.4 miles per gallon


I just don't get how you guys are having an issue....
