Today, Mitsubishi announced the North American version of the 2011 Outlander Sport at the New York auto show. The vehicle is expected to go on sale in North America this fall. Its an intriguing little package but the starting price at $19K, unless its packed with features from base version, is a bit too high. Looking at Dodge Caliber/Jeep Compass 17510/19350, plus the new Korean offerings of Hyundai Tucson/Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi better think about pricing this car right and $19K for the base 2.0l is doomed to be a failure, at high $17s/low$18s it looks more desirable. Overall its a nice looking car.

 

I agree about the price. However the $19,000 is only speculation as Mitsu hasn't said anything about it yet.

According to the articles the base model ES will come standard with a manual transmission, with an automatic available as an option. The SE model will come standard with automatic. I would think $17,000 for the base ES, and maybe low-mid $18s as starting price for the SE would price it about right.
