Hi to all, Hoping for a bit of info from any 2013 Outlander owners to help me make a buying decision.
We're replacing our trusty Volvo V50 2.0D family hack which has done a relatively trouble free 172,000 miles whilst still returning 52mpg.
Having had SUV/4x4's in the past (Grand Vitara & Sportrak) we fancy going down this route again. We're a very tall couple and I'm the wrong side of 20 stone + 2 kids, cats , dogs (you get the picture).
We're quite taken with the new 2013 Outlander and keen to find out if the quoted 52mpg is any where near the mark. The salesman in our local Volvo dealership fell about laughing when I quoted the XC60 mpg back to him!
It's between the Outlander and an Audi A4 Avant 2.0 DCIe which does a genuine 56'ish combined (64mpg quoted). There's a fabulous deal to be had on the Audi on contract hire at the moment but it does feel smaller than our old V50.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi. We took delivery of a 2.2 DI-D GX4 Manual (Diesel) a few weeks ago and a major part of the purchase decision was the claimed fuel economy. After four or five two hour trips, mainly m/way and in reasonable weather, plus REALLY trying to achieve good economy, we are only getting 42mpg (both via the in-car info and calculated from fuel purchase). That's based on just under 1400 miles in three weeks and three tankfuls of diesel.
I'll be having a chat with the dealership in the next few days and see what they reckon is the problem.

Thanks for the info, we were sceptical in the end and decided to replace the Volvo V50 with a newer lower mileage one instead. We did however lease a Audi A5 cabriolet 2.0 diesel which has a claimed 59mpg combined figure. The best we have had is 47mpg on a long run which leads me to believe that all manufacturers claimed figures are unachievable in the real world...
