Thumbs up 2014 Outlander SE VS Endeavor SE...Should I trade?

I've read all the 2014 Outlander reviews, we're looking at a base Outlander SE with a 4 cyl and no sat radio...
(altho I found one CAN be installed in the SE 140 watt syatem for $375)

Also the 1500+500 rebates etc make for a great buy I know

We're driving a Lo Mile (57K) 08 Endeavor, yes it uses gas (21 MPG avg) but it is SMOOTH and COMFORTABLE and has the 360 Watt Rockford Fosgate SIMPLE sound system that sounds great...

I am a Die Hard Mit fan, unfortunately right now they have nothing comparable to replace the Endeavor with. I've heard they may come back with a Montero in 2016 for 2017 issue but that's far off at this point.

Am I kiddin myself thinkin that we'll like this Outlander well enough after owning the Endeavor, or should I give it a shot? Like to hear from BOTH former/current owners of either.

Just lookin for a little direction from current/former owners. Thanks!

IMO, if you're already feeling apprehensive about it, you're going to be disappointed. I have a 4cyl '12 Outlander and I have driven other V6 SUVs and there's a big difference in power. Granted, there's a big difference in gas mileage as well, but you obviously care about the overall experience (smooth, comfortable, RF stereo) not just gas mileage.

It will probably be academic anyway. Mitsubishi trade ins aren't worth much, even at a Mitsubishi dealer. I'm hearing 9000 trade on the nice Endeavor above that runs out as new.
For that paltry sum, we'll keep it for another 40-50000 miles.

I will at least go drive the Outlander, I did sit in one and the seats aren't in the same ball park at all. Endeavor has much more comfortable seating position and size.

Any Endeavor owners that traded on an Outlander out there? Would love to hear your opinions on this.

9k sounds extremely low on your trade, especially at a Mitsu dealer, and especially with 57k miles on it.

I know, but dealers are all the same. They're gonna give you manheim auction price
on your trade, or worse yet that frickin black book price which is even less. I checked dealer retail pricing on similiar 2008 Endeavors with 50-60000 miles and they range from 14,900 to 16,500. NADA says clean trade on mine is 11,400.00 which is about right but I'll never get that from anyone. I know the dealer has to make some profit but they all want to hit home runs on your trade. The poor guy that bought it new for $31,875.00 in Nov of 08 got only $14,000 in trade when he traded it in Jan of 2012 with only 22,500 miles! (at the same Mitsubishi dealer he bought it from new!...O'brien Mitsubishi Normal, IL where it was built) I talked to him...he's still kickin himself in the ***...LOL

Try to trade your vehicle in. You'll leave pissed off without trading, I guarantee you. Total waste of time. Surprisingly enough, it's not worth much less with 50 or 80000 miles, which is why we've pretty much decided to keep it. Guess it's off to NAPA for some transmission fluid, better swap it out.

I just traded my 06 TL with 109k on it towards my 2012 Outlander. They begrudgingly gave me 8k for the trade. 9k for your car is way way low. IMO you can get more than that. When they make their first ridiculous low offer, just stand up and start walking out.

The dealer that I got my '12 MitsuOutander GT from tried the 'Your trade in is worth $4000.00 at the Manheim 'auction in Milwaukee" thing.

I had to explain to him that we were not at the Manheim AUction in Milwaukee, we are at Van's Honda/Mitsubishi in Green Bay. My trade is worth more here than down in Milwaukee.

After I got up to leave, they saw things my way.

Well, we drove a new Nissan Murano Saturday, they have some hefty rebates going on and they certainly are priced right. She got up on it and the first thing she said was "too small". We drove it, sure enough the cabin felt a little cramped, had no where near the room our Endeavor has, and what seemed like a miniature cargo space behind the front seats. It also did not have as good a ride. Like the old saying "it's easy to trade up, but damned hard to trade down."

We're in our 60s, and I think the Endeavor has spoiled us. The only mid/full sized SUVs that can compete room and quality wise are the Pathfinder, the Highlander, and of course the ultimate...Buick Enclave...LOL

We would be foolish to trade at this point. As most of you probably knew anyway. I told her we should continue to enjoy our nice Endeavor for a couple more years, when it gets close to 90000 maybe see about trading it at that point. Hell, if we're going to give it away may as well get some good use out of it first. At that point it will be long paid for, and who knows I may just keep it for myself and drive it to 200K, which with proper maintinence should be easily doable. Bottom line there just is no good reason to trade and better yet nothing comparable to trade on. People that have never owned an endeavor will never understand. Those that have, know how good a vehicle it actually is.

Thanks for your input, guys!

The dealer is relying on you making an emotional decision because of the sexiness of a new ride. Well done.
