Default 2015 Outlander AUX Input

We recently bought a used 2015 Outlander Sport. It only had 260 miles on it when I drove it off the lot! Anyway, it has the touch screen stereo head unit with back-up camera. In the modes it displays an AUX input, but there is no aux input to be found in the car. I contacted my local dealer who said that there isn't one and you have to use the USB input. I use an mp3 player and not an ipod to listen to music and while the head unit navigation works via USB, it is clunky and won't allow even my passenger to navigate if the car is in motion. Is there a way to add an AUX input? Is the wiring there, it's just not in the car? Has anyone else dealt with this? Thanks in advance.

aux input has been discussed to death here. There are three chances to get aux input:
1 - If you are super lucky, there will be a panel on the back of the center console/armrest with some rca jacks.
2 - You are mildly lucky, remove the back of the armrest panel and there is a connector laying on the carpet. you'll need the connecting harness to get rca or figure out which wires does what...this should be in the service manual.
3 - You are not lucky at all. You'll have to do research and figure out which pins on the back of your head unit is aux in and manually add an aux cable like the following:

when I did mine, I got to do option 3. Once done, it works great. Since I'm in a non-MMCS '07, hard telling what connectors have been changed.

Yeah, I found some info on here, but a lot of it was pre-2014 so I wasn't sure if it was valid for newer models. I know I don't have the RCA inputs on the back of the center console. I will pull the cover off and see what is behind there when I have time. I would like to avoid option 3 if at all possible. I don't understand why they would make AUX input an option on the head unit, but not make it a usable option. Thanks for your response.

Customization kills profits. Make everything he same and make the customer pay for enabled features.

I looked in my console as well, ended up removing the whole center console trying to find the harness...no luck. Tried getting some of the Bluetooth/fm transmitter devices...those sucks. Option 3 took some research, but only cost 8 bucks...ended up being best.]

Hmmmm, bluetooth transmitter. I hadn't thought of that. My Wife drives our Outlander most of the time, so I would only need it for long trips, vacation, etc when I do most of the driving. A bluetooth transmitter might be a viable option for me. My daily driver, an '09 Mazda, has an 3.5mm jack in place so I don't have to deal with it on a daily basis. Thanks for the info. I may give the bluetooth a shot first and see how it works. Thanks

trust me, they suck. I bought one off amazon that had a type of boom. It broke after 2 months. I bought a replacement from Target and tried it in the parking lot...immediately returned it as the volume was so quiet....yes I cranked the volume on the device, my phone, and the car radio. I then bought one that was an FM Transmitter/Line-In type....it was really quiet as well, but better than the 2nd one.

I put my real Aux in a year ago, it is still rocking hard.
