Default 2018 outlander Aftermarket Roofrail Install? Help

Hi,
After searching on line for a stylish but functional Roofrack, I came across some after market Roofrails. Mine did not come with one. However, brackets to fit the rails does not seem to fit properly and my only other option would be to drill holes to make the rails fit.

I personally do not like the location of the fitted crossbar . I don't understand why they sit up so high covering the sunroof.

Any recommendation? Holes or No holes and forget about it??? Thanks

I have done a roof rail adaptation for my Outlander Sport/RVR/ASX using the rail of a gen 2 Outlander, so if you want it do not forget about it. Details are found here at post #875. However, if you want to customize you need to be creative. I have used the four fixed anchor points and applied automotive construction glue to anchor a bolt at the rear end of each rail gutter to have a three point fix for each side. Unlike you I wanted the rail to be raised. As you can read from the link for the OS the aftermarket roof rails are not functional, mainly for decoration only. I cannot speak for the Outlander but I would be surprised if it were different. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your kind and precise answer. I came to reliaze that the aftermarket rails must only be for decorative purpose as it is missing the secure points in the center of the rack. Mayhave to seek Rhino rack for alternative. 👍
