Default Outlander 07 ABS light on (ASC off) -

HI there! I have a 2007, 2.4 Outlander with 106000kms. The ABS warning light comes on (which says "service required" and ASC off) only when I go over 100kph..... It never comes on at low speeds/driving around town etc. Took it to the mechanic who scanned for codes and it came up with "abnormality in langitudial "G" sensor output signal ABS". He cleared the codes and said it may have been due to towing, but may be sorted. I took it on the motorway and the light came straight back on over 100kms again! The brakes seem fine!
Any ideas? Could it be a faulty ABS speed sensor? Expensive??
Many thanks!!

is yours AWD or 2WD? If AWD, a bad wheel speed sensor would throw an ABS as well as a check engine light. The check engine light essentially points to a generic transmission issue. The wheel speed sensor feeds different computers for several services. ABS system needs to know if and how fast a wheel is turning. Same for AWD transmission and traction control systems. if you don't have the sensor, you get nothing. I had a rear sensor go out in '10.
