I am hooking my iPod up to the AUX RCA's in the back of my 07 XLS and the accelerator noise is pretty loud. I thought at first it was because I had some crappy cables, but I recently got some shielded ones and it's just as bad. Is there a chance it's badly grounded somewhere? Is anyone else noticing much noise?

 

There is a ground loop problem with the outlander, but its a simple fix.

Go to your local stereo shop, or electronigs giant... and buy a Ground Loop Isolator/Noise Filter.

I put one inline with the RCAs and it is great now. NO NOISE

 

is it a high pitch whine or a sound as if you hear the cd player cycling?

 

is this an 07 only issue or did it carry to the 08 as well?

 

I'm not sure whether the problem is carried over or not.
It's definitely accelerator noise. I whines when I speed up and you can hear it throughout the acceleration. I also get a lot of noise when I have the AC up high. It's so annoying. The cables I have plugged in are very well insulated so I know it's not them. I'll try getting a ground loop isolator and noise filter and let you guys know if it helps. I also have a service coming up in about a week.

 

I have that issue and mentioned several times in my posts. I called dealer and he started saying that it's an aftermarket mp3 player that's the problem. I decided I didn't want to bother with this.

i have that accelerator whine noise in my 07 when I have cig power plugged in to any mp3 player, it doesn't happen if I I dont' have cig power plugged in

 

Have you tried both power socket, the one in the armrest works independantly of the ignition, so it is obviously wired differently than the other one?
