Default Accelerator Pedal - 2010 Outlander

My accelerator pedal seems to get warm. Does anyone else notice this on their Outlander?

I first noticed it when I was driving with flip flops but noticed it again when I was wearing shoes.
I have a 2010 Outlander with the aluminum pedals.

Probably the sun or something else is heating the aluminum part. I believe the pedal itself is plastic attached to a position sensor which sends the position to the ECU. There is no mechanical linkage to the pedal or the sensor itself which can transfer heat...and plastic does a really bad job of transferring heat.
