Default Air Filter Box

I have a use 2009 outlander v6. I was looking at the air filter and found that the box is very loose on the bottom. When i insert the air filter and put it together the bottom can pull out very easily. Is every's like this or is mine broken?

I think yours is not assembled/locked properly. Needs to be fixed asap as partially unfiltered air does not do any good to your engine.

I agree. the air filter box can be very difficult to get put back together properly. Any time anyone "checks the filter", that airbox must be checked...I've never had someone put it back together properly.

if I ever get the time, I want to create a tag requesting that no one open up the air box...just because no one can get it put back together.

I think it's in right, but i can still yank the bottom apart if i want to. Certainly a poor design, can you guys pull yours apart?

not when put back together correctly. if not done correctly, it is easy to pull apart.

it really is a bitch to get put back together right. when I first started, I was removing the intake ducting that goes to the grill off to get in there a bit better.

I am done struggling with that, now I remove everything, the whole air box and ducting , takes maybe an extra 10/15 mn but that make the job so much easier and you are absolutely sure at the end that the cover is properly installed snug all around .

2 plastic clip to remove at the front
Air duct clamp to unscrew
sensor to disconnect
remove a hose from the bracket on the air box
remove 1 bolts holding the air box in place, located right above the battery
pull everything up and voila, all in your hands, easy to clean, easy to inspect and easy to replace the stupid filter :-)
