Default Amp Power Wire through firewall???

I want to install an aftermarket (Alpine) amp in my 2009 Outlander. Trying to find the best location to run the power wire through from the cabin to the battery. I have read that there is a grommet on the inside of the fender. Does this mean I have to remove the fender to get at the grommet?

Any help would be help!

Cheers

I put all my extra wires through the firewall. looking from the front of the vehicle on the firewall about 18in from the left and just under the step in the firewall there is an odd shape of firewall showing through the insulation. On a RHD vehicle it is next to the brake booster. Just drill a hole and stick a grommet in it to seal it. In my vehicle there was nothing behind it and had easy access from inside.

I am in Canada and have the v6 Outie (mid-level model with stock deck...no Rockford) and can't find a spot behind the engine that looks like that pic. You said facing the front of the car with the hood open on the left hand side about 18 inches in from the left on the firewall?

Hmm, maybe I will take a pic and post to show what I have.

Had a closer look and was able to locate the "V" patch of exposed metal (not covered by the cloth) where you ran your wires through in the picture. It looks like the wires will come through just behind the glovebox?

Did you drill the hole from the engine side (outside the car) or from the interior side (behind the glovebox)? It doesn't look like I can access the open "V" patch with a drill from the outside.

For me here in Canada, hood up, facing the engine the spot is on the left side about 18 inchs in like you said.

Thanks...I will try to drill a hole through this weekend.

I am in Australia so the glovebox is on the other side. I drilled through from the engine side with a step drill. There was nothing behind it but it may be different in other countries. Check carefully. I passed all my extra power and LPG control wires through the grommet I inserted.
