Default Any way to cancel auto-dimming of the MMCS?

I prefer to keep my headlights on at all times while driving. As you probably know, the MMCS auto-dims when the headlights come on. During the day, in sunny Southern California, this results in a display too dim to be seen (especially the nav screen) , even with the brightness turned all the way up. Is there any way to override this, or is the only solution turning off the headlights if I want to use the display during the day?

I know my husband's Prius has a "hidden" control panel that controls many functions that is only displayed if you know the code to activate it; is there anything like that in the MMCS?

In the 08, I think if you just press set in the MMCS you can choose what setting you want the moniter to be on. I believe the choices are day, night and auto.

I already have chosen the "day" setting and turned the brightness all the way up.

The hidden menu on the outtie is accessed by holding the "navi" and "set" buttons for 2-3 seconds. I can't remember if the brightness can be changed in this menu, but their are some other useful diagnostic tools in it.

If you have your option set to "Day" and the brightness all the way up there is nothing else to do. I can't see mine for crap on a sunny day. The Nav unit is just not bright enough.

Double check this though, try turning the lights on and off while your stationary to see if the display dims at all, or undims. That will ensure that the "Day" option is set correctly
