Default Anyone heard of this?

I've recently finished having my provincial safety and RIV inspection done on my imported Outlander. I asked for a block heater to be installed, being that i live in Canada, this is pretty much a must for all vehicles in this climate.

The service center doing the inspection and safety didn't have a block heater that fit the vehicle and phoned around the city looking for one. Nobody had one, so they phoned the dealer last. The dealer claimed that it's not necessary for this vehicle and that they've had no problems with any of them. Apparently a block heater isn't made for an 07 Outlander? I find that hard to believe, VERY hard to believe, especially with so many of them in Canada.

Anyone heard of such a thing?

When I got my XLS in august I got the same answer asyoufrom my dealerin ottawaso I manage to get in the deal 5 years Synthetic oil change free of charge an there using the Pennzoil Full syntactic one. I have use synthetic oil in all my other car I can say that it makes a difference at -45 and there's no real need for block heater with a good synthetic oil but it's still nice to have a block heater for sure here in canada.[/align]

Mitsu does not make a block heater for the 07-08 Outlander. Sorry. Keep looking aftermarket.

I'm not sure if they will ever make one since the outlander is an Aluminium-alloy block and it's not recommend to use a block header on analuminium engine.

Yep, I was told the same thing. I inquired last week with my dealer.

Off topic,

I am curious as to why you imported an Outlander from the USA. You have no warranty now. I have imported vehicles from the USA, I am sure Mitsubishi does not honour warranty of US market cars...

Just picked up MY08 XLS last week in Cargary - they said it came with a dealer instaled block heater. I'm just waiting for my wife to come home, and I'm going to check to make sure there's one installed. If not - I will be demanding my money back!

A savings of over 8 thousand dollars with the strong Canadian dollar should cure your curiousity.

As well, I live 45 minutes from the US border and can easily take a trip to have any major warranty work done. In fact, I'm flying out of the US next month and will be leaving my Outlander at a dealership to have some warranty work done while I'm away.

It works out perfect.
