Anyone swap out their OEM tires yet?
And the 3% increase also means that the car travels about 3% more distance than it used to in one turn of the whell, so your mileage calculation is also off, this means that your need to add 3% in order to compare before and after, but that's probably around 1 MPG. It's still worst than you had before but not by as much as you thought.

if i can get the speedo to be calibrated, my mpg reading will be back to normal right?
wonder if Mitsu can calibrate it for me.
Drove 45000 km on my oem's (bridgestone duellers) for almost two years, rotated front to back at 30000 km. Just ordered four Michelin Diamaris, total cost EUR 800 including tax and labour, will probably be fitted next tuesday. I was actually hoping to get the new 4x4 raintyres from Uniroyal, but they don't sell them over here yet. Uniroyal's raintyres are really great.
I do not recommend anyone changing their tire size and going over 3%. Something under 3% is fine, but over is a no no!
Elisha, I do not know if the tire person told you, but you change from 215/70/16 to 235/70/16, thats over 3%. If you go over, this will mess with your speedo and your ABS braking system, not sure about the 4WD and the traction control.
If you increase the width of the tire, you should lower the profile, to maybe like a 235/65/16.
Difference from 215-70-16 to 235-70-16 is 3.8%
215-70-16 to 235-65-16 is 0.61% (MUCH MUCH BETTER)
Did the tire shop didn't say anything before they put on the 235-70-16's?

if you go to a 235/60 its calculated to within 0.5% which is darn close enuf for me

215/70 - 150.50mm
235/65 - 152.75mm
235/60 - 141.00mm
235/70 - 164.50mm
so the nearest is the 235/65
i know the pros and cons. not too worried about the speedo. as for braking, i doubt it matters much since the new tires have better grip and more surface. and how often do you see ABS kicking in anyway. i have yet to see it kicking in on mine.
4WD and TC is not wheel size dependent.
