Argghhh! Multiple circuit electrical failure, where do I start with this?
My fabulous, perennially reliable 2007 Outlander 2.0 diesel disgraced itself this morning.....
It's below zero cold outside at the moment, so I started the car to let it warm up and clear the screen. Everything normal so far. Came to jump in and drive away, notice radio is dead (it has the Rockford Fosgate entertainment system with sat nav etc.), thought 'it's not very warm in here' then realised the fan was no longer blowing any air.....
Everything was working perfectly yesterday and I'm pretty sure it was working OK when I first started it as it had cleared the screen by the time I came to leave. I know that the HVAC controls are still operating the flaps and air diversion as you can hear all the motors whirring away as you fiddle with them and you can hear the load on the engine kick in and out as normal when the air con compressor kicks in, but no cabin fan.
I immediately suspected fuse, so checked the fuses according to the user manual and they're NOT blown. I then checked all the rest of the fuses too and couldn't find any blown anywhere. So there appears to be some sort of electrical failure....
At that point I had to switch to another car to get to work, but not before I discovered the boot won't open either.... I don't know what else doesn't work yet...
Is there a relay that controls power to all these circuits?
Could there be a body control module that controls that lot which has died?
Anyone got any ideas where I could start looking for issues?
Sadly, taking it to the garage is not an option for this old girl, so it's fix or die time

Resolved!
Found a current flow diagram and established that all my dead circuits were run off the same fusible link at the battery - checked the link on the battery terminal, NOT blown. However, it was manky looking and bypassing it with a flying lead brought everything back to life. Seems the fusible link had corroded internally and failed....
Replaced with a Maxi fuse for now and everything works again.
Phew!
