Default Aux Connector Type 2?

Brand new XLS owner here....was looking through MMCS manual and found on page 8-11 a diagram showing a type 1 aux rca jacks located at the back of the console and then I saw a type 2 connection....deep under the HVAC controls in front of the forward cupholder/12v area.

Does anybody have this? Or is this perhaps from a european model. I'm at work now, but am gonna take a good look after I leave work. This makes connecting an ipod much easier without running wires from behind the console to wherever you want your ipod.

This "Type 2" is covered with a door so look carefully.

I have the XLS without the NAV system, and I dont have that jack... though it could be a connector for a playstation, or VCR, or an I-pod...

Well, I went and checked my XLS that does have the Nav unit and alas, I too, do not have that little door.

Too bad, would've been a great spot to put those inputs too.

Where did you see this "Type 2" jack diagram/picture? Looking at the MMCS manual (US models), all I can see are the RCA jacks on the rear of the center armrest.

Do the back-of-console inputs come with the nav system, the 6-cd system, or only when you get the rear-seat screen?

Are these inputs usable for an ipod?

yes, the ones at the back of the console work with my ipod....weird though, when you start driving in aux mode with ipod attached...the screen goes dark.

I am looking at the same MMCS manual, all I see is the diagram for RCA jacks at the back of the center armrest. No other type of RCA jack on the page. [sm=smiley25.gif]
