Being told to replace a COOLANT TUBE on 2009 outlander
Hey all,
got my 2009 outlander in for the big timing belt service. They were doing their inspection and said that the coolant tube (not hose) is basically rusted to s**t and need to be replaced.
Does this sound legit? They quoted me $199 for everything dealing with that.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Dave

I've seen another post here regarding this coolant tube. It runs along side the left side of engine (driver side) from the front to back and sits beside the front wheel. The road dirt builds up on it and causes it to corrode. I checked mine last summer and it had a significant amount buildup and some corrosion. Mine is a 2008. I would suspect this is a known problem and that's why the dealer checked it. I would say it's very possible it should be replaced but you it's easy to check if you want jack the car up and look behind the front wheel.
