We have the engine air filters replaced at the dealer when getting oil changed. We found Fram Cabin Air Filters at Walmart.

The Cabin Air Filter is pretty basic to change...I use the Fram ones as well...around 25 CAD here in the GTA. The Engine air filter is a bitch to change...the Mitsu air boxes are well known for the bottom hinges not closing properly after you open them....It's a design I'm not fond of...my 09 Lancer 2.0 litre was wayyyy easier than the current 2.4 litre design..might just be me tho...So I let the Dealer change it once a year...thats about 40,000 KM for me...I drive a fair bit.

Personally i would use Mitsubishi filters for everything. The Purolator ONE cabin filter I used worked, but the quality was lacking. You have to be careful with the intake oil filters. I guess you can over oil them and cause issues with the intake system components. Last time I was at the dealer a tech was selling a throttle body service due to issues caused by the oiled filter.

I've used Mahle filters...they work well. check out rockauto.com for most parts...also look at retailmenot.com and search for rockauto....there is a 5% off that usually takes care of shipping...ish.

K&N are by far the best filters for air and engine.

they are not paper cloth but a durable material that is washable, vacuum safe and last a heck of a long time. dealers just make you change a new one very time they can. its a rip-off.

I've had mine changed since i got my outlander in 2013 and its still running strong.
it will cost more in the beginning but pays off after a year.

The best filters are the ones you change most often. Cabin air filter isn't really mission critical for the car, so it's just preference. Whatever smells the most pleasant? Air filter is a little different, but I check my air filter regularly and it always looks fine. I will replace at regular scheduled intervals, but there's only so much a different brand of filter can do. The "permanent" air filters do last longer because they can be cleaned, but I'd rather use a disposable filter than a cleaned permanent one. Personal preference, but as long as you change or clean them regularly, it won't matter a whole lot.
