My $.02 worth, I think you guys are overlooking something else a lot bigger than worring about changing your oil at 20 miles. We all know thats ridiculous,..argument over. Now the real question : is using 5w20 oil really the best thing for our engines?? even if some of us live in milder climates?

Yes!I'm a "newbi" and its just an opinion, you obviously think its benefitial and most of us don't. Hey no one is putting a gun to your head and telling you to stop doing what you are, to me it is ridiculous so I won't do it, I did however changed my oil at 1000 miles, just becauseyou never know how long that oil has been in there from the factory. But what I'm more worried about is if I should use 5w20 still even if I live ina hotter climate.

yep.

Im always at a loss, no matter who makes the car or whatever the owners manual says as to why people always second guess the engineers.
They recommend 5w20. Id say use it. Will you wreck anything by not using it? Doubtful. But its there for a reason.

my car has 2200kms on it, i took it into the dealership to get an oil change and they turned me down!!! saying that i should wait till 5000kms because of the special additives that the manufacturer puts into the engine to help it seat everything correctly...

i found it funny that a dealership didnt want to take my money!

If that dealer know what they're saying, then that's a good thing. At least they're concerned about your car and doing the right thing. I know some other dealership don't give a sht and will happily take your money.

yeah, great, we are no closer to an official idea, then when we started...
Me, Im bout to drink a beer, smoke a cigerette, and change the oil in my 07 outlander xls,
Oh, and BTW, for those of you who change your own oil, the outlander uses the same oil filter as the 3.0 mivec v6 eclipse
I am using mobil1 5-30 and **** mitsu if they dont like it.
