Wink A/C repair. My experience

Since I got no reply to my original post I thought it might help someone else to share my experience. This is based on a high mileage vehicle. There are many Videos on Youtube for these jobs.(How I learned) There are 4 major parts to know of and most likely should be replaced. 1/The compressor. It is attached at the bottom of the belt pulley with 3 bolts and is a real easy install. (If you have filled the system and it hasn't leaked and your a/c light is still blinking there's a good chance this is the culprit. Testing procedures are on Youtube). Used from LKQ eBay $80.(New $800) I have run mine all summer so it's paid for itself 2/ The expansion valve, rectangular in shape. (If it blows cold intermittently this is your problem ).It is located directly behind the center of the motor and is an easy install. 1 10 mm bolt and 2 allen key bolts behind the pipes. Gently pry the valve off its seat using a screwdriver. .$27 on amazon.ca. 4/ The high pressure sensor/switch. It is located behind the grill on the top of the condenser. (Follow the lines) $15 on rockauto. Replacement of O rings is entirely up to you, I didn't. Not so necessary are the condenser and drier, both of which come as 1 piece ,$50 Ebay.com. It's up to you I didn't replace them. All parts quoted are NON OEM except the compressor.
I know it's late for some but southern state people will need this for awhile. Happy DIYing.

My compressor went out on my 2012 Outlander Sport about a month ago. The mechanic let me order the A/C kit off of Rockauto and he installed it for about 4 hours labor plus parts. The kit was about $300. He said if you're keeping the car might as well replace the other parts since the compressor probably let loose bunch of metal parts into the system. It's been ice cold since but the transmission blew out a week ago.
