Default 2007 Outlander XLS Aircondition

Just wanted to check if anyone with 2007 Outlander XLS has faced this problem. When I turn on the AC in auto mode it comes on. I hear some peculiar noise from the compressor as it lets some air out. The aircondition light also starts blinking. Any particular reason for this.

Thanks

I've seen two things with my LS.
- The blower fan lower bearing dries out and starts vibrating/buzzing very loudly. Last year I disassembled the motor and re-lubed it...now it barely makes the noise. I do need to replace it. It is actually a very easy replacement. Remove plastic panel under the lower glove box...remove a few bolts and wire harness....re-assemble with new. If you think this may be it, check out my thread on it and it may help you sort through it. The motor is down by the passenger's feet....kinda sounds like it is behind the glove box.
- My compressor was just a little bit low on refrigerant charge. I cannot see this as causing any noise, but I did re-charge mine this last summer.

On a related note, is there any way for the air conditioning to NOT come on every time you select "auto" mode?! It's 24*F outside right now, I have the temp at 78*F, why the hell does the car think I want the little snowflake to light up?!

you want the little snowflake to come on to remove the moisture in the air...that can fog up your windows when cold.

LOL I know THAT! I meant permanently. I don't like having to push it off ever time I switch from defrosters to auto.

ccernst, yes, I do when needed, but in general I don't have much issue with moisture.
