Default Cabin Filter Replacement on 2007 Outlander XLS

I am able to get the glove box to drop slightly by unhooking the side latches (stops), but the box still does not drop down far enough to access the filter easily. The struts seem to hold it up. Anybody have any detailed instructions on how to remove the glove box.

You need to push in both sides of the glove box and pull it down.

Just pull the strut off..I found the plastic tabs were a pain in the *** to get the globe box past.

Red face outlander cabin filter replacement

I attempted this job today and here is my take on doing it.

1) open glove box and unhinge the damper strut by just pulling in off from where it is hooked unto the glove box. It comes off easy.

2) you now have to squeeze the two upper tabs which would allow the glove box to swing completely down. This is a pain. The best way I found is too work one side past the glove box body, and then work on the other side, getting it to go past the body. It does require some force. I was afraid I was going to break something, but it did give eventually.

3) allow the glove box to swing completely down. the air filter compartment is now directly in front off you. unlatch the cover on both sides and remove filter.

4) Reassemby in reverse order.

Hope this helps.
