Well I think firstly information is good to start off with like
YEAR
MOTOR
ETC....
then we can tell you
But there is a substitute for trans oil. I use Penrite MHP.
As for cambelt. If its a 2.4 it is chain driven as mine is

Gen-8, I think he meant is the transmission "sealed for life".

Robertczar, in Australia for the 2012 Outlander v6 the cambelt change is 100000 km or 5 years (whichever occurs first). The auto transmission oil is 90000 km, the rear diff oil is 90000 km & the transfer case oil is 75000 km. If the car is driven with harsh conditions the oil changes should be done at half the standard distances.

thanks all. My Outlander use V6 3.0 MIVEC engine and invecs III 6 transmission. The manual states 50k for cambelt reposition but seems incorrect, so local mit dealer advised me in 100k. i didnt hear and read about 5 years, but make sense as rubber made belt may deteriorate... intersting. As for transmission, yes. As land rover transmission-gear box, it is sealed? We dont have a clear criteria here. some specialists say its important to change oils, but even in the mit dealer no change is scheduled...

The v6 auto transmission is not sealed and the Service Schedule for Australia shows it must be changed at 90000 km.

you change the transmission fluid by pulling the return line off the oil cooler, then you refill through the dipstick tube. there is no alternative fluid to the dealership fluid. I've done mine in 45k mile intervals.

I just changed my cambelt/timing belt at 105k miles. it was still in decent shape, but figured it was time to change it out.

Ccernst I beg to differ about the fluid alternative.
There IS substitutes fir MMSPIII and has been for many years.amsoil and Penrite to name some..
I use Penrite MHP and its perfect.. Semi synthetic and all is good

Sorry, need to specify that there is no alternative for DiaQueen ATF-J1/J2/J3 fluid.
