Default Can you use a jumper wire to read trouble codes on 03 Outlander?

03 Outlander and the check engine lite came on today and i dont have a scanner to check the code. Can you use a jumper wire on the data link? If so what pins do you jump?

I tried Auto Zone and the usual places and was told that they can no longer read the codes for you nor can they rent you the scanner anymore. I have been searching the web and i cant find anything to tell me how to just read the code myself. I can find all kinds of info telling me how to use a jumper wire for my Honda, my Chevy and even my Nissan. But the Mitsu is the wifes car and i have never had a reason to track down the coads for it.

It seems to run fine it just idels a little slow. Any info would be a big help. I dont want to fry the computer in the wifes car an Mothers Day, ha ha.

try another parts store. I know AdvanceAuto and O'Reilly's will at least rent you a scanner. Where are you located? maybe there is someone local to help you out.

You definitely need the scanner, though. There's no jumper to jump in cars made after the mid 90's or so...
