In case you were wondering, the Outlander Sport CAN go offroad
A brave move in the 4th photo but a good outcome. If you tried that here in Australia you would for sure end up grounded between a set of hidden ruts gouged out by someone with big mud tyres and too much power.
You might be cleaning mud out of small places for ages but hey, that is part of the adventure.

Haha the outcome was condsidered heavily. The water in there was actually just barely over the lower white part of the bottom bumper (in the pictures it just looks deeper because I was 'snowplowing' it), and considering that our air filter is in the top rear portion of the engine, I figured I was OK. I was gentle on her, and the only casualty was two little clips that hold the rear bumper to the bumper support at the bottom of the back bumper... however those may have been already gone from the snow, who knows.
My AWD Outie Sport only got stuck once, and that Ranger you see in the pics was towed out like 3 times doing the same stuff... granted his 4WD doesnt work, he still had knobby mud tires and much more ground clearance...
As for cleanup? Unlimited car washes at the no-touch place by my house came in handy... The guys were pressure washing for over 15 minutes. Whoops!

Thanks for posting these, Burtonrider10022! You're brave :-)
I have always wondered how this would handle off road. I plan to take mine to a few mountain trails this summer, but nothing this radical
Did you try inclines as well? What tires did you have on it when you went off-roading? I see that the stock rims are on, but did you switch to all-terrain tires? And did you have it in 4wd Lock the whole time?

4WD Lock Traction control OFF, Factory rims and tires, didnt really do any inclines, I don't think it would do too well on them tho due to the lack of torque... The suspension has very little travel and obviously almost no ground clearance so I would be very cautious with mountain trails! If you do go, post up some pics!!
awesome! wish I could find more people doing off road things with this vehicle... in my future travels I will be. I mostly find it only in other countries under the ASX label. but the osport has some solid off road capability.
The outlander sport does great on inclines in my experience i have the 2015, i swapped the stock tires for Yokohama geolanders ats tires and i havnt had to use 4wd yet, i just shut traction control off and go everywhere in 2wd where i used to need 4wd
