Thanks NDJ. I went to pick it up today and well it needs an allignment after the steering column put back in. Everything fixed...windows, etc... but now when the Wheel is straight the car turns right...SO I left it there Tech gone already I'll call in the am. I know it turnes out the be a cable from the shifter to the steering column that was binding upfor some reason and locked thing into place.

Alignment after putting in a steering column
Replacing a steering column should not affect alignment. Something sounds really fishy... |

Two likely options depending on the detailed symptoms (i.e, if the cars pulls to one side when been steered straight, or, simply centring the steering wheel turns the car)....
1. What was quoted above. The fix is to remove the airbag, unbold the steering wheel, align, re-assemble. 2. The front wheels weren't centred when the new column was installed. Not sure if that's possible in modern cars; I'd guess Mitsubishi would make it idiot proof, but lots of them about. Both are rookie mistakes but neither a problem to fix. |
Wasn't an allignment issue. He had to pull the wheel and move it one notch to the right. It's fine now and our new car is home...Thanks for all your help. Now for setting up the hands free phone.
