Complete newbie - help with converting Japanese to English

I have just bought an Outlander 2007 that is a Japanese import to Nz. How can I convert the monitor from Japanese to English. Please can you explain in simple terms as I'm not that technical. Thank you

Very simple. You cant
The system is designed to be used in japan by japanese people.
The only option is to replace the system, or get a transated owners manual and learn to recognise the japanese symbols

You or a technician/engineer you trust could hack the MMCS and flash it from Japanese to English. These two threads contain information regarding that subject:

https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...ck-mmcs-25583/

https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...-system-31390/

Otherwise, Broomfish is correct.

What a fail broomfish :)

MMCS was designed by Mitsubishi for being sold world-wide.
Over a dozen of languages are supported.

Any market's MMCS can have any of supported languages, I can have Kanji interface on my Canadian MMCS if I like.

Mine was an 2006 outlander j-01 model stereo if I could have sniffed out a simple way to convert for free I would have giz-tec.com hopefully shortly might also be able to upgrade our stereos to new Zealand maps
I have just set up and used the music server changed a few settings that was near impossible before the only thing missing was the red guide lines on the reverse cam have the correct nz time and date there were also Aussie time zones in the settings now

In regards to guidelines reverse camera Micheal from giz-tech replied back to with with this
Hold set+navi for 5 seconds.

- Hold menu for 5 seconds.

- Go to car type settings.

- Select 'i'

-press Set

The only problem with that is the system is not retaining the information and will revert back to 3H45X after a little while.

Believe me, I've been trying since I did the upgrade 5 weeks ago.

Rear Guide Lines MMCS

Yes you are are right after converting to English the rear guide lines for the cam disappears even after resetting to i in the menu guess we have to wait for a fix but all in all I'm very pleased with the conversion
The Music Server is really good now that in English I can now know how to use it correctly

Rear Guide Lines Back MMCS

Well yesterday I downloaded the data for a disk from Mitsubishi web site and upgraded the Gracenote Data Base on my stereo

Everything went okay I don't know why but after the upgrade I now have my rear cam guide-lines back after losing them when converting from Japanese to English on my stereo

Could be just a coincidence but i'm not complaining
