cruise control available?
I am a proud, new owner of a 2006 Outlander GLS AWD. I love the ride quality in this car, very smooth!!
On the GLS models cruise control is aparently not an available option (even though it's listed in the brochure as an available option). I asked at the local dealership where I bought the car about adding cruise and they said it is not possible because the GLS models are not wired for it !?! Can anyone confirm this? When I take a look at the wheel, below at the bottom there seems to be a cover that snaps out in place of the cruise control switch. I'm thinking it can have it installed, considering that all the american (even the bottom of the heap LS 2WD) models have it! If anyone has any insight that would be great, I will be doing some long highway stretches with this car and cruise control sure would be a nice option.

In my limited experience, Mitsubishi likes to keep it simple... they keep the wiring the same and just put either blanks or the accessory/switch. Pop off the blank on the wheel and take a look underneath. I'm not familiar with the modern cruise controls, so I cannot say exactly what to look for, nut if nothing is there.... you may have a project ahead of you.
That's what I heard about another topic...the tweeters in the door pillars. On my model I have the grills but no tweeters, I read that they are prewired so I am going to pop off the grills and buy a set of tweeters to complete the stereo. Just today actually I noticed that when the stereo is cranked up it sounds bassy/boomy even with the bass turned at neutral, so obviously this stereo setup is in need of more highs/mids.
If the GLS models are prewired like other models then hopefully the cruise is prewired as well which should make for an easy upgrade, thanks for your help.

Good luck..the tweeters will be a good upgrade. You can also run the fog lights too, they are prewired...just need the goods to hook up. Let us know how it works out for you, if it is wired and all.
Just had the tweeters installed today, bought a cheapie set for $20 but they make a big difference at high volume levels, now the highs can keep up with the bass. The tweeters were prewired so it was a quick 10 minute job, I am hoping the cruise control is prewired now to
The GLS models come with the factory fog lights already installed. So getting the cruise installed will be my next project.

tell me about it! I am still a little puzzled the dealership said cruise isn't available. Can't believe the GLS has everything else...leather, 6cd changer, fog lights, two tone paint, double sunroof but no friggin cruise! Funny thing is that here in Central America the sun is so intense during the day that no one ever uses their sunroofs, they are strictly moonroofs here. Kind of a useless option for Mitsu to include them, but you have to buy it if you want the top of the line outlander down here. I would gladly take $500-$1000 or so off the price in place of the two sunroofs option. [&:]
