On the US site it shows the SE with available S-AWC.

Hmm, so not only did they do away with the plain AWC in favor of the S-AWC on lower models but they also mated it to a CVT. Isnt Nissan the only other manufacturer to do that?

I doubt Nissan would call it S-AWC....but talking about the same idea...I just bought a new Subaru Impreza (non-WRX/STI). It is AWD mated to a CVT that moves power around to improve stability. It won't break your neck backwards, but still a fun car.

My DD is also an Impreza (2012) with CVT. Great in the winter and not too bad on gas either.

I too am renting a house on the sand with a 8 mile ride up the beach. My research tells me 4wd lock and deflate tires to 15-20 psi while on sand. I have 2013 Outlander sport Limited. And yes it comes with the paddle shifters.
