Enable TMC and RDS reception in US MMCS?

The European MMCS and the US MMCS are basically identical judging by the ports on the back. But the European MMCS is capable of receiving TMC and RDS signals, and the US MMCS can not. Does anybody have any idea if the TMC and RDS can be enabled on the US MMCS? I know the TMC needs a tuner and antenna inorder to work, but looking at photos of the EU MMCS and the US MMCS, I couldn't really see anything different. So my guess is that the US MMCS just needs an antenna for the RDS and TMC to work?

Do you guys think something like this (TMC/RDS tuner) will work with the US MMCS? http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...p?partno=GTM10

RE: Enable TMC and RDS reception in US MMCS?

The cd-radio has capacity RDS, so I believe that our MMCS needs some component hardware (perhaps a chip), and not necessarily an antenna. About this, we would have to see in motherboards (cd-radio/MMCS) to see if a component RDS exists.
TMC reception share antenna with GPS system; my point, it would be necessary to obtain the TMC/GPS european antenna and to see if works. . .

RE: Enable TMC and RDS reception in US MMCS?

I understand that the US MMCS might not have the TMC/RDS tuner in the first place, which is weird Mitsubishi chose to skip it when it's even available in the 6-CD changer radio and the Euro MMCS. So the question now is, is the TMC tuner an external module that goes into one of the rear ports (just like the Sirius tuner module)?

Maybe mitsupartsman or rdenis has an idea.

BTW, while I'm bringing this up, I did some search and I dug up some classic mods for the Backup Camera from the man himself, rdenis: https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_124086..._1/key_/tm.htm

So just like the Backup Camera and Sirius radio, lets bring on the TMC and RDS reception!

@jsrd: Let's continue the discussion here. Do you know the socket # where Connector 6 (TMC cable) goes into? does it connect to the MMCS directly?

0k rcpax, we continued here. I don't know about tne socket 6 in our MMCS, we needed the aid friends who has these functions, so they confirm it; but, maybe possible. . .

Thanks for the confirmation madmex. Hopefully the US MMCS only needs the antenna. I wonder if the 6CD-changer radio uses the same antenna for RDS reception.

Thank's madmex for your response. Now, we must determine f it is necessary "turn-on" the function since it did rdenis with the camera of reversa, or if once connected the TMC antenna automatically activates, whenever we have the ports for cable TMC, ready for connection in our MMCS. . .

Good find! Recall that rdenis had to have the Sirius capability activated in his MMCS the rear camera detection is standard in all variants of the MMCS I've seen so far.
