Smile Engine hood struts

Hi !
I was thinking to add a pair of gas struts to the engine hood but I have no idea about the proper ones.
Any suggestion about the model ?
Thanks !

Darek, could you take a picture of one of them fitted on the Outie ? I am interested in how does it mount (accessories and the space needed to mount it).

Thank you very much

I won't be able to take a picture for the next 4 weeks - I'm away from home now. Sorry. As far as I can remember struts are fitted using original bolts (nests) fastening hood hinge on one end and fender on the other. No drilling etc. is necessary, just use of original bolts locations (nests) and provided parts. After closing the hood struts hide nicely, you can see them a little through the gap between hood and the fender. Nothing sticks out, nothing makes difficult to close the hood etc. I hope it is helpful, let me know if you need any more information.

Regards

Darek

rcostin, in the link that I put above, in post 11, there is one pic of Sokie Tech sold in ebay. If you want to watch more pics, you can see them in http://outlander.mforos.com/1350551/...l-cofre/?pag=2, post no. 23, the installation is easy…

Thank you very much for the pictures, jsrd. Indeed they are very self explanatory. I have only one fear. Because the arm force, taking into account the mass, the engine hood may deform. I found some references regarding this even when using the stock support. Personally I would prefer (of course, if I am able to find) to have a longer distance between the strut's bolt (on the hood) and hood hinge and to use a shorter strut set, like yours, ColtSpeed.

Thanks again darek for the info.

If I can find a way to solve the problem in the way I like, I will post also the solution here.

All the best,
Costin
