FAST Key and Cell Phones

FAST Key and Cell Phones
Hello all...
Just bought a brand new 2007 "Outie" XLS. I am hoping it will last me awhile and I will still have as much fun driving it as I do now. 2 Weeks old and someone already put a key or purse to it... [:@]
Anyways,
For some reason the past few weeks I have been carrying my cell phone in my pocket instead of my belt. I also keep the FAST key in my pockets... and usually the same pocket. I noticed that when it was in the same pocket as my cell, it would not function right... i.e. I would touch the handle sensor and it would not work. I would manually hit the unlock on the FAST key and get in and go.
I parked last Saturday and had it in the same pocket as my all day (about 6-8 hours). I went back and touched the sensor and it did not work. I pulled it out to manually unlock, but the little transmit light wasnt even working. Dead Battery. So out comes the "emergency" key. I manually unlock it, which makes the alarm go off (in a parking garage, while my girlfriend is standing right next to it... I think seeing her jump was worth it...[8D]).
To the point-- I have hypothesised that when the FAST key and cell phone are in close proximity, they try and "talk" to each other constantly and the battery drains. Any thoughts?

RE: FAST Key and Cell Phones
Use caution with a cell phone in the same pocket as your Fast Key.
I read a bulletin...Maybe it was Nissan or Toyota?
Thevehicle ownerswere finding out that if the cell phone rang in the same pocket asa Fast Key device,
later, the Fast Key would not work at all.
It was suspected that the energy transmitted from the cellular phone during an incomming call
damaged the sensitive electronics of the Fast Key.
I don't know for certain, but I try to keep both items in separate pockets.
Love the Outlander andcan't afford an expensive experiment right now.
Take care!

RE: FAST Key and Cell Phones
It was the Nissan key that was getting erased when near a cell phone. They recalled them i believe.
I keep them in separate pockets..not only for the key's effectiveness, but so I don't scratch up my phone (any worse)
Maybe Mitsubishi could made fashion accessories to use as a FAST key?? (I'm staking my claim now!) such as a belt buckle or a watch (makes me think of calculator watches and KITT off of Knight Rider..."Kitt..unlock the doors and do an infrared scan of the building" LOL)
And what lady could refusea 3 diamond necklace? :

RE: FAST Key and Cell Phones
I got my outlander last week and was putting the fast key in the same pocket as my cell phone and no problem but after reading this thread I decided to put my fast key in the other pocket just to be safe.
