Question Fuel system cleaning

Hello all,

I'm a do-it-yourselfer kind of guy, but one thing I haven't really ever messed with is fuel systems, just never had to.

I was messing around AutoZone's website today, shopping for parts for an upcoming maintenance cycle, when I bumped into this. I was wondering if anyone here has used this, or a similar product, and what kind of results they observed in better gas milage?

My Outie just broke 41,000 miles, so I don't think the difference would be dramatic, but I tend to like to have things operating as close to perfect as possible, so the thought of using something like this makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Yeah, I have problems .

Thanks,

I have tried several fuel cleaning way. I found the easiest way and efficient is adding the "Keropur" which is from Mercedes Benz.

I now add it every 5,000Km, and feels performance is quite nice.

look at what it costs compared to the total savings. Why spend $10 to save $5.

I have used Chevron Techron Concentrate Fuel System Cleaner (20 oz.) (TM) in our 2004 Mazda 6 Wagon three times. I have kept meticulous records since day one, including all gas fill-up slips, maintenance records, etc. I have all of this in a spread sheet, and perform my calculations on it (the spreadsheet, of course).

I must say, the fuel system cleaner (this one at least) does absolutely nothing that I can discern as far as : starting the car; gas mileage; performance; engine smoothness; or anything else, for that matter. The car has nearly 80,000 miles on it. YMMV.

(Posting because I am looking at the Outlander, and I am interested in this site.)

Thanks.

Don

Thanks for the info guys.

Don, that's the reason I asked about the 3M one specifically. Your experience has been mine, so I was surprised to see how many people in the reviews of this product at Amazon.com were citing better fuel mileage, enough that I think it's probably not a joke.

I'm going to give it a try soon and let you all know my results.

im also thinking about using the 3m cleaning kit when i found it on amazon last month, great reviews seems like worked for everyone. only thing i concern is step2 throttle carb cleaning, not sure if its good idea to spray that much in the throttle body.. let us know your result.

as for fuel injection cleaner, i use redline si-1
