Ok so what are others getting for MPGs with the full size Outlander (not Sport) AWD with a 4 banger?
I looked on-line before we bought it and supposedly it could get up to 27-28 MPG. We cant seem to break 24 MPG for highway use and are usually getting only 22 MPG. The last car we had was AWD but smaller and a standard and we got from 27 to 31 MPG so this is a bit of a dissapointment.

 

My 2.4 with CVT gets anywhere between 9 and 12 l/100km. Its very sensitive to driving style and traffic conditions. Consumption can easily run away if you put your foot down regularly. I use the instantaneous consumption bar graph as a measure while accelerating. On medium to long trips the speed control also seems to reduce the consumption somewhat compared to driving by foot. On a recent long trip of 1600 kms it the car averaged exactly 10.0 l/100km. My highway speed was 120 km/h and there were approx 20 towns en-route that presented some stop start situations.
On my daily commute that includes 20 km urban and 60 km highway it generally returns 11 l/100km.
The best I ever got (trying to save fuel and not exceeding 110 km/h) was 7.6 l/100km and the worst (loaded and pulling a trailer) was 14 l/100km.

my commute is about 25 mile to work, 6 miles on highway, rest is driving trough traffic lights. If someone from NJ: i travel GSP south from x136, then Route 1 to rt130 to Cranbury, nj. Usually i get about 24/25 mpg. I tried few times for "a record", i was able to get 29mpg. But top speed on the hgwy was 60mph, was taking really slow from stop at the traffic lights, some people even was honking at me like " go grandpa go" . But anyways, it is possible to get even better fuel eco than the factory says. It is 2012 outlander, 4wd, k&n air filter.
My wife have 2014 outlander, same motor, getting similar fuel eco.

Assuming you talk about US MPG, then it returns the same as mine
Does the K&N filter make any difference in power or consumption?
just curious - why 2 outlanders in the same family?

 

Yes, US MPG. Did not notice much difference in fuel economy with K&N, but i think little more power, but maybe it just in my head

We loved 2012 Outlander so much, so when was time to trade my wifes old car, we choose another Outlander

 

My 2009 Outlander AWD usually gives me about 320 kms on a full tank before I get the refuel warning. The mileage is pretty ****ty if you ask me. I only use synthetic oil.

 

well, if you want great fuel economy, get the hybrid vehicle or plug in. I would say Outlander gets average fuel economy, i can't complain. My dad have 2010 Honda CRV awd. He get same fuel economy. But i would never trade Outlander to CRV.

 

here i did experiment, what best fuel economy i can get on my wifes outlander. It's 2014 outlander, s-awc, 4 cyl. See the pictures, try to beat it .

 

I have a 2015 SE AWC...with the 2.4...and regularly get 28 -30 mpg..but im not a speed demon..mostly highway about 70 %...so im happy with that.

 

My wife drives our '08 4WD 4-Banger. We get on average 24mpg in town and 28-30mpg on the highway. Compared to our other vehicle, a Land Rover Discovery II, that gets 13mpg in the city, we are very happy.
