Default Fuse Box ? Fuses Small Size

I I'm trying to get all my accesory sockets working on my 57 Plate Outlander Elegance as the cigarette and other charge ports don't work but I think I have found the fuse box left hand passenger side when I take the glove box out but the Fuses are a much smaller size than normal ones am I in the right place ?

Yes, most newer cars don't use full size fuses anymore. Instead they use mini fuses which are just as good, but in a smaller package. This is because cars are continually adding new electronic feature, more cigarette lighter sockets, more gadgets, more things like ABS, Lane Departure warning, Radar cruise, more switches, more buttons etc........ All means more fuses, so they had to miniaturize to allow for more fuses in the fuse box.

Just go to the auto parts store and buy the smaller fuses.

get something like this, which has a fuse tester and puller. It has a green light to tell you if a fuse is good or bad.

On my outlander, the one between the driver and passenger seat is turned on all the time, regardless of the key switch position. I try not to use that because i'm afraid if i leave a GPS or something plugged into it while i'm parked, it'll drain my battery.

Did you also check to see if there were any fuses in the engine bay?? There's usually a fuse box just behind the battery. But i can't remember for our cars.

I have a phone charger in the front accessory socket (under the radio) on my 2010 and it turns off with the car... I didn't check the centre console one yet though.

Yea, the front center console and the rear cargo area sockets both turn off with the ignition. But the center console on mine doesn't, it's on all the time.

Has anyone found a solution to have the center console one on ignition?
