HD Radio Add On
#3
I doubt there is a way to add HD radio to the original headunit. Best thing to do is to buy an aftermarket double DIN radio that supports HD radio and has an iPod/USB port. They can be had for $200-300 easily for a high quality one.

Ok, I had a look at the radio and there is an HD Radio trademark icon on the base stereo (not SAT, which I have). However, I haven't found anything in terms of an adapter for the Lancer or Outlander (both share the exact same radios/NAV).
My guess is that Mitsubishi wanted to include it when they designed the stereo, but decided to backpedal from that decision.

Here is a picture, which I finally remember to take when I went to work:
So it does support HD Radio in theory. Interestingly enough, notice both SAT and XM are present on the screen. However, only SAT lights up when you use Sirius (I know they merged, but interesting nontheless). Also note "MD" and "LP" as well as some other ones that usually don't light up.
