HID Backup Light Conversion

I would like to perform an HID conversion of the Outlander backup lights. I would also like to have the lights on a switch, so that the reverse gear can activate them, but so that I can activate them at any time myself. This has been done countless times to other vehicles, but I have not really had a chance to see in detail any of those installs. So maybe some people here can give some suggestions for this project.
The Outlander Sport uses w16w reverse bulbs. To start, what common HID bulb type would one most likely want to use to replace the w16w? I am talking about physical shape, H11, 9006 etc. I will be using 4300k bulbs.
16w is not very much, so I assume I would not want to utilize the factory reverse wiring, but rather run heavier wire and a relay from those old factory wires. Would you agree?
Finally, what would be the best method to attach the new bulbs with? Some kind of high temperature silicone? I don't need it to be pretty. I just need the bulbs to be held firmly in place.
This should be fun.

Can you relay the jist of that story? The russian translation is a little confusing for me.
I talked to a guy who does the kits for BMW. He confirmed that I would need to glue the lights in, but he did not confirm the maximum wattage I could use. His kits are only 21 watts. I want to use the standard 35w HID. I personally think it will be fine. The bulb base does not get hot, just the container (lens housing), and reverse is only used for about 30 seconds.
With the switch, you can blind those dip **** tailgaters.
