Default Hitch for Australian Model

I've seen a few pictures on the forum and the trailer hitch for the Australian version seems to be under the rear bumper instead of behind it. It seems that the spare tire may not be under the car allowing the hitch to go under the bumper. It looks much better than the those I see on the North American version. Can anyone provide more info? thanks,

I just got the MY14 outlander aspire with the tow kit fitted, the spare tyre and hitch are both behind the bumper, I can get some photos if you want, cheers.

Just thought I'd add some info and pics for future reference. I got a towbar installed when I bought my '12 ZH second-hand, it's a TAG Towbars T3C474; check their website and you can find them, though the pics are too small to really see clearly.
Sits entirely behind the bumper, and yes I have a full-size spare underneath. Uses a flat tongue rather than the 50mm square type; looks like the "heavy duty" version uses the 50mm and sits beneath the bumper rather than behind, though from the specs it's still rated the same?
Sorry for the bad pics, hard to get enough distance to frame the shots. Essentially, there's some angled pieces that allow it to slot in behind the bumper while still bolting into place.

Thanks for the pictures. Very interesting. This setup is very different that what we have available here in North America. It looks much nicer.
What is the brand of hitch? And what is the rated towing capacity? thanks,

Listed at a rating of 1600kg=~3500 lbs. Kind of expensive though at ~$485 USD

That's the one. As stated, the brand is TAG Towbars, model T3C474. Rated 1600kg, 160kg ball, which as far as I can tell is the max rating of the Outlander anyway.

You think that's expensive? Cost me a grand fitted from the dealer! But it was a case of getting it over and done with at time of purchase, and my wide had apparently checked out a few places beforehand and the installed costs seemed about the same. Knew we were going to need a towbar fitted, so had factored that into our costs.

Here are a couple of pictures the Mitsubishi Australia towbar. The lower bumper needs to be trimmed for the receiver but everything else is a straight fit. The brackets seem very robust with 5 bolts per side.

RoGuE do you know that the 1600kg capacity is only for v6's? For 4 cylinder engines the capacity is 1500kg.

Thanks quadcam I'll keep that in mind, though doubt I'll ever go anywhere near that much; 6x9 trailer is about the extent of it at the moment. I just had a brief search and seems that a smallish caravan will still be under the limit.

I didn't really consider the style when ordering the towbar, wasn't until after ordering and before picking it up that I started worrying about getting a fugly big bar sitting beneath the bumper, but luckily it's OK. Not sure about the non-standard fitting (non 50mm square), but have never had a replaceable tongue before anyway so don't see me swapping out different accessories.

The one quadcam pictured is different from the one you pictured Rogue. Any more information on the one you pictured with the square receiver quadcam?

And yes, I consider that expensive considering there are many towbars you can buy in the states for under $200. On most vehicles they dont look bad either, just on the Outlander..
