Hands Free Passcode reset procedure

I have a 2011 Mitsubishi RVR (Outlander Sport) and I was able to reset the passcode using the "hang-up switch" procedure but only after finding the following pdf documents online which describe the procedure in more detail.

Here's the text:
The 4-digit passcode set by security function can be erased by
operating the hang-up switch.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" or "ACC" position, and
check if the radio and CD player, or the multivision display is
activated.
2. Check that the hands free cellular phone system is not in
voice recognition mode.
3. Press and hold the hang-up switch for approximately 2
seconds (1.5 seconds or more).
4. Within approximately 10 seconds after performing step 3,
press and hold the hang-up switch for approximately 2
seconds (1.5 seconds or more) twice again.
NOTE: Even if the passcode is erased, guidance such as voice
guide is not provided.
5. After the operation, check if the lock with the passcode is
unlocked. If the lock is not unlocked, repeat from step 2.

jump straight to description of how to fix:
see page 54A-574 of following pdf:

How I found the ##%#%^$%#%&$%^&%!!!! document:

1. found a link to the following document

see page 29 table 13 HANDS−FREE SYSTEM ASKING FOR A PASSCODE
Technical Service Bulletin TSB−12−54−012

2. searched for "Group 54 − Chassis Electrical"

3. found the pdf in 3 separate downloads:

Delaer doesn't knowhow to remove it.
Somewhere in web we found the instruction: press and hold 2 sec "hang-up" button then pause then hold 2 sec twice again.
Don't work. :(

Help please. Thanx in advance.

PS:I mean passwordfor access to bluetooth setup menu. NotPIN-code for phone connect.

I called 888-702-4100 went through the prompts I was connected with a person he instructed me to 1) turn on car 2) press the call button 3) when system announces "system locked say pas code" 4) say 0000.
I did that exactly and it unlocked it first time. Hope this helps some.

Turn on the system and without touching any other buttons press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds, release it, press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds, release it, then press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds and release it.All this must be done within 10 seconds. In other words you must press and hold the hangup button for 2 seconds three separate times within 10 seconds. If it doesn't work, turn off the system, turn it back on and try again.. The person I spoke to said it may take several attempts to get it to work. Good Luck...

Didn't work for me. Tried a thousand times. Very frustrating
